On 9th June I captured the conjunction (when two celestial bodies appear incredibly close to each other from our perspective on Earth) of two planets JUPITER and VENUS.
You won’t need a telescope or binoculars to see them; they will stand out to the naked eye even through city light pollution.
Venus and Jupiter were separated by a mere 1.6 degrees in the night sky which is about the width of your pinky finger held at arms length. From our perspective on Earth, they will look so close that they will appear to be nearly touching—a phenomenon often nicknamed a “cosmic kiss.”
Infact they are actually millions of Kms apart in space. Jupiter 903 Million Kms and Venus around 179 Kms from Earth.
Venus shines intensely because its thick cloud cover reflects a massive amount of sunlight, while Jupiter is exceptionally bright due to its colossal size.
Astronomers and skywatchers are calling it one of the standout celestial events of 2026.
Many historians and astronomers believe that an exceptionally close conjunction between Venus and Jupiter (which occurred around 2 BCE) may have been the historical basis for the famous “Star of Bethlehem” mentioned in ancient texts.
