6th Jan, 2020 (Moon Corona)
SkY & Telescope, USA
The corona – Orange ring of light circling the Moon – was seen clearly from Bahrain.
The corona is the result of scattering of light by particles which can be ice needles or cloud droplets when the clouds passing infront of Moon is thin (enough to scatter / Diffract). It appears as rings of colored light surrounding the luminous source, usually the moon or sun. The classic corona consists of a bright aureole, bluish in the centre and brownish on the periphery, surrounded by one or more rings.
The Moon is “Waxing Gibbous” – 10.7 days old.
